Meet the Teams

Team captains, Hunter Reese (KNO) & Michaela Gordon (ATL)

Team Atlanta is led by the coach Marcelo Ferreira and team captain Michaela Gordon.
Marcelo Ferreira brings over 15 years of coaching experience at both the collegiate and professional levels. A two-time ITA Assistant Coach of the Year, he’s helped players claim NCAA championships and carve out successful pro careers. Michaela Gordon, a four-time ITA All-American, played a key role in Stanford’s dominance, securing two NCAA team titles and earning the 2019 Pac-12 Singles Player of the Year award.

Joining them for the preseason match are:

  • Kevin King - is one of the most decorated players in Tech’s men’s tennis program where he played from 2008-12. He was a two-time ITA All-American (2011 and 2012) and a three-time All-ACC performer. He was also an ITA Academic All-American, 4-time member of the All-ACC academic team, and 4-time ITA Scholar Athlete.
  • George Coupland - played a key role in MSU's SEC Western titles in 2011 and 2012, as well as the program's consecutive NCAA Championship appearances. He was an All-SEC selection in 2011 and earned spots on the SEC Academic Honor Roll twice, also being recognized as an ITA Scholar Athlete.
  • Justine Lespes - two-time NAIA All-America team selection (2024 and 2023), she has also earned three Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-America honors (2024 Singles, 2023 Singles, and Doubles). In 2023, she claimed the NAIA Singles National Championship at the ITA Cup, was named NAIA National Women's Tennis Player of the Week four times. She received the Marvin P. Richmond Most Outstanding Player award at the NAIA National Championship tournament in 2024 and 2023.
Kevin King is making his comeback

Team Knoxville is led by the coach Patrick Scott and captain Hunter Reese.
Patrick Scott has been coaching for 23 years, developing over 50 collegiate-level players. He coached at the University of Kentucky and trained at Nick Bollettieri’s Academy. Hunter Reese, a former Tennessee Volunteer, made his mark by winning the 2014 NCAA Doubles Championship and climbing to a career-high doubles ranking of No. 73.

Joining them are:

  • Evan King - fresh off a doubles victory at the 2025 Dallas Open, he has achieved a career high ATP ranking (55) in doubles. He was a three-time ITA All-American (2011, '12, '13), a two-time Big Ten Athlete of the Year (2012, '13), and a four-time All-Big Ten (2010, '11, '12, '13) player.
  • Kata Szekely - a two-time doubles All-American (2012, 2013) and a two-time second team All-SEC selection. She compiled an 89-34 career singles record while posting a 103-24 mark in doubles play. She climbed as high as No. 7 on the doubles charts (June 6, 2012) and No. 37 in singles competition (Feb. 16, 2012) during her tenure at Tennessee.
  • Robin Anderson - helped lead the Bruins to the NCAA championship in 2014. That same year, she was named the Honda Sports Award winner as the nation's top collegiate female tennis player, a title she also claimed in 2015. On the professional circuit, Anderson reached her first WTA 125 singles final at the 2021 Midland Tennis Classic
