Martin Gutierrez and Michaela Gordon Sign with INTENNSE

The INTENNSE pro league brings together players from around the world to compete on professional teams in the INTENNSE format. The league is composed of 4 teams in 4 different cities throughout the Southeast, all competing for $300k in prize money. Learn more about INTENNSE. 

We’re thrilled to announce the signing of our first INTENNSE pro players, Martin Gutierrez and Michaela Gordon!

Born in Colombia, Martin later moved to Jacksonville, FL with his family, where he grew up and learned to play tennis. Martin stacked up a glittering college career at Barry University, which included four NCAA Championship titles and three ITA All-American honors. Martin has also created a community of 20k+ tennis enthusiasts via his Instagram account, Theforehandguy, with the mission to help players develop confident forehands. Martin is a fierce competitor (this becomes apparent as soon as you watch him play!) and is passionate about spending time with friends, working out, and grilling. 

A Bay Area native, Michaela graduated from Stanford University in 2021, where she played exclusively at the top of the lineup and was a member of two NCAA Championship-winning teams, receiving four All-American honors and the Pac-12 Player of the Year award. After graduating, Michaela joined the corporate world, working in venture capital for two years before deciding to make the jump back into professional tennis with INTENNSE. Michaela is still involved in tech and writes a newsletter, The Early, focused on helping young professionals in venture capital and tech with thousands of weekly readers. Michaela loves all things working out (yoga, hiking, cycling), writing, escape rooms, custom shoe design, and is (slowly) working towards her goal of learning how to surf.

Martin and Michaela will be joining INTENNSE pro teams based in Jacksonville and Atlanta, respectively. As pros, Martin and Michaela will compete alongside their teams in the INTENNSE format over the course of a six-month season. 

The league offers players the opportunity to: 

• Get paid to play pro tennis as part of a team
• Grow their individual brands
• Develop valuable off-court business skills including marketing, strategy, & operations
• Contribute to paving a new path for tennis players, fans, and the game itself
